General Requirements

Minimum Qualifications for Undergraduate Admission

• A Minimum GPA 2.50 both in SSC and HSC examinations or equivalent, or
• At least one GPA of  2.00 but an aggregate GPA of 6.00 in SSC and HSC, or
• Sons/daughters of freedom fighters with an aggregate GPA of 5.00 in SSC & HSC, or
• O’Levels in 5 subjects with a minimum GPA of 2.50 & A’Level in 2 Subjects with a minimum GPA of 2.00 (scale A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1),or
• International Baccalaureate/American High School Diploma.
• Students with a science background in HSC or equivalent Examinations are allowed to get admission in science, technology, and engineering programs.
• Acceptable score in the ULAB Admission Test.

Note: Admission test is waived for candidates with minimum score of 1100 in SAT(Math + Critical Reading). However, they may have to face an interview.

Transfer of credits from comparable educational institutions may be considered after admission. Rules on credit transfer are available from the Admissions Office.

Application Form

Admission Test

ULAB will call applicants who meet the minimum eligibility requirements for an Admission Test, which will comprise of a written test and, in some cases, a departmental interview. The written test has two parts:

Part 1 contains multiple-choice questions covering English Language and Mathematics, Physics, and Logical Reasoning.
Part 2 is a test of written English where students have to write a short essay.

• A minimum CGPA of 2.00 in Bachelor’s degree, plus
• A minimum GPA of 2.50 both in SSC and HSC examinations or equivalent, or
• At least one GPA of 2.00 but an aggregate GPA of 6.00 in SSC & HSC, or
• Sons/daughters of freedom fighters with an aggregate GPA of 5.00 in SSC & HSC, or
• O’Levels in 5 subjects with a minimum GPA of 2.50 & A’Level in 2 Subjects with a minimum GPA of 2.00 (scale A=5, B=4, C=3, D=2, E=1).
• At least three years of work experience after Graduation in an executive position for EMBA applicants.
• Acceptable score in the ULAB Admission Test.

Note: 1. To be eligible for M.A in English (1 Year) a candidate must have a Four-year Bachelors Degree in English.
          2. Admission test is waived for ULABian graduates with CGPA 3.00 or above.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Any applicant who gives false information during the application process will be immediately disqualified from the application process or summarily dismissed from the university.

International Undergraduate Admission Requirements 

All applicants must have completed the Higher Secondary Certificate or their equivalents in any equivalent field of study.

Academic Qualifications for Undergraduate Admission

• At least 12-year schooling is essential for admission in undergraduate program. All applicants must have completed the Higher Secondary Certificate or their equivalents in any equivalent field of study. Students must have at least second division or minimum GPA of 2.50 out of 4 in Higher Secondary exam/ a US High School Diploma or equivalent In special case, if GPA is below 2.5 then minimum GPA 2.00 and total (Secondary and Higher Secondary) GPA 6.00 is required.
• If an applicant has taken the O-Level examination, he/she must have passed at least 5 (five) subjects with minimum GPA 50 and
  In case of A-Level examination, an applicant must have passed at least 2 (two) subjects with GPA 2.50. Note that applicants with O-level and A-level certificates must have at least D grade in all subjects.
• The GCSE students also must have passed 5 (Five) subjects in O-Level with a minimum GPA of 2.50 and 2 (Two) subjects in A-Level a minimum GPA of 2.50.

Language Proficiency Requirements

1. TOEFL/IELTS score may be required in order to fulfill English proficiency level, if previous medium of instructions were not in English.

Application for admission

After submitting your application a member of ULAB International Affairs will contact you to complete your admission process. We aim to make the admissions process as simple as possible.

Documents Required

• Completed admission application form
• Certified copies of all academic transcripts/certificates
• Proof of English language proficiency
• Valid Passport (at least 1 Year Valid)
• Health checkup/medical certificates

Credit Transfer

Credit transfer is possible from an educational institution with a curriculum similar to University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. A student may apply for transfer of credits of similar course/degree earned from another university/institution only after having gained admission at ULAB subject to a maximum of half the total credits applicable for the particular course/degree at ULAB.

Syllabi and Official Transcripts from all previously attended institutions/universities must be submitted at the time of application for credit transfer. Only credits of relevant courses in which s/he earned grade B or better may be transferable to ULAB.

International Graduate Admission Requirements

All applicants must have completed a four-year or a three-year Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in any discipline with minimum CGPA 2.50 or its equivalent in any field of study.

Academic Qualifications for Graduate Admission

• At least 15-year schooling (12-year schooling + 3/4-year graduation) is essential for Graduate program.
• A minimum CGPA of 2.5 on a 4-point scale in all exams.
• Prospective candidates may have to appear for an interview before the final selection is made. Or, a standard score in GMAT/GRE.

Note:

1. GRE score is required for the Master of Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Computer Science & Engineering programs.
2. GMAT score is required for the Master of Business programs.

Scholarships Policy for Undergraduate Admission

• 100% tuition scholarship for students with GPA5.0 both in SSC & HSC without 4th subject;
• 100% tuition scholarship for 5 A’s in O-Level in one sitting& 2 A’s in A-Level in one sitting;
• 40% tuition scholarship for students with GPA 5.0 both in SSC/O level & HSC/A level or equivalent results;
• 40% tuition scholarship for siblings/spouse;
• 40% tuition scholarship for ULAB /GEMCON employee ward/spouse;
• Up to 20% tuition scholarship for students with English medium school background;
• 10% tuition scholarship for students with English version background;
• 20% tuition scholarship if average GPA 4.50-4.99 on SSC/O level & HSC/A level or equivalent results;
• 15% tuition scholarship if average GPA 4.00-4.49 on SSC/O level & HSC/A level or equivalent results;
• 10% tuition scholarship for BBA students from Science background with average GPA 3.0 in SSC/O level & HSC/A level or equivalent results;
• 10% tuition scholarship for female students;

Note

1. Other than 100% scholarship cases; a cap of 40% scholarships shall be in place for the rest.
2. Students taking remedial courses in Mathematics (BBA only) & English based on admission test results are to pay Taka 13,500 for each course.
3. Students will have to pay Tk.1000 as language lab (English Zone) fees in the first two terms.
4. Students will have to pay CSO & CCO activity fees of Tk.1000 per term.
5. Students will have to pay Tk. 3000 as Essential Skills fees in the first four terms. (Study Skills, Healthy Life Skills, Social Skills, and Professional Skills)

Scholarships Policy for Graduate Admission

• 40% tuition scholarship for siblings/spouse;
• 40% tuition scholarship for ULAB/GEMCON employee ward/spouse;
• 20% tuition scholarship for ULABian’s;
• 20% tuition scholarship for students with three 1st class/Div. (CGPA 3 out of a 4 point scale &  GPA 4 out of a 5 point scale );
• 15% tuition scholarship for students with two 1st class/Div. (CGPA 3 out of a 4 point scale & GPA 4 out of a 5 point scale );
• 10% tuition scholarship for working students (Min. experience 2 Years);
• 10% tuition scholarship for female students;
• Corporate Offer: If a group of three persons from the same organization join the program at the same term each will enjoy 10% tuition scholarship.

Note

1. A cap of 40% scholarships shall be in place.

The head of the concerned department/ program or the Admission Committee will determine equivalence of courses. The application may be referred to the Equivalence Committee, If required. Credit transfer decisions are made on a case-by-case basis where the quality and standard of the institution and/or academic pro-gram will be taken into account. For Bangladeshi institutions, transfer of credits will be considered if the instruction has been approved by the UGC.

A student may apply for a transfer of maximum 16(sixteen) credits for E/MBA and 18 (eighteen) credits for Master in Communication earned at previously attended universities toward ULAB degrees in their first term within the date mentioned in the academic calendar. For some reason if someone is not in a position to apply for credit transfer with in the given time. s/he must obtain permission for late submission in writing form the respective Dean/ Program Head, else any such application will be void.

For the purposes of transferring credits, Dean/Head of the respective school/department will determine equivalence of courses and may also refer cases to the equivalence Committee, if needed. Transferred credits and grades are not included in calculating the CGPA at ULAB.

Credit transfer decisions are made after admission of the students on a case-by-case basis where the quality and standard of the institution and/or academic program will be taken into account. In addition, respective Program Heads may ask the students applying for credit transfer to appear a test. However, the decision of the ULAB authorities on credit transfer application would be final and binding upon to all for relevant purpose at ULAB.

Documentations Needed for Credit Transfer:

• Submission of an application in a prescribed form available at the respective program office.
• Complete official  Transcript  from the respective university/institution
• Complete syllabus of the subjects that are applied for transfer
• Any other paper/document necessary by the ULAB authorities at any point in time.

Credit transfer fee: Fess will be charged for the purpose.
