Admission Requirements For Undergraduate Programs
- At honors level, applicants must have minimum average CGPA 2.5 or second division in Science, Commerce, Arts and Diploma or equivalent. However, if any applicant has GPA 2.00 at any level s/he must have a total GPA of 6.00 combining SSC and HSC
- Candidates passing HSC and/or equivalent in Science Group may only apply for admission to honors programs under Sciences and Engineering Faculty.
- For O-Level students, applicants have to pass at least 5 subjects and for A-Level, candidates have to pass at least 2 subjects. Among those passed subjects, the candidates must have B Grade in 4 and at least C Grade or GPA 3.50 in the other 3 subjects.
- For the children of the Freedom Fighters, the candidates have to obtain GPA 5.00 in SSC / HSC or in equivalent examinations.
Admission Requirements For Graduate Programs
- At Masters level the candidates must have the above results and a minimum of GPA 2.00 or Third division in the Bachelor degree.
Financial Assistance (Scholarships & Waivers)
- GPA Golden obtainers in SSC and HSC and equivalent shall get 100% scholarship;
- 50% waiver is offered to GPA 5.0 (general) holders in SSC and HSC or equivalent;
- 25% waiver is offered who obtained GPA 4.0+4.0 =8.0 (without 4th subject) in SSC and HSC or equivalent;
- Children of Freedom Fighters shall enjoy 100% scholarship;
- 25% (12.5% + 12.5% for each) waiver is offered to one of the two brothers and sisters, husband and wife (if they are admitted together);
- Scholarships are also offered on the basis of the Semester’s Final results;
- The special scholarship is offered to the students for their significant contribution to different cultural activities (Music, Acting, Recitation, Presentation, Dancing, etc.) and Sports and games (Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Athletics, etc.);
- Transport facilities around Dhaka City;
- Hostel facilities are also available.
Admission Requirements for International Students
International students particularly who come from other systems like US High School Diploma/GED/ Indian/Nepalese system, etc. (not from SSC/HSC or O/A Leve,l etc.) the admission eligibility will be as follows:
- Must be 12 years of schooling,
- SAT score of 1100 or
- Pass with at least upper 50% marks/grade of their own education system,
- International students fulfilling the admission eligibility need not appear at the Admission Test.
An equivalence committee will assess and recommend for satisfactory grade for the applicants who seek admission in AUB with US High School Diploma or who come from other systems. The equivalence committee will assess and recommend for waiver of Admission Test, Scholarship, etc. (if applicable) for foreign students and the students from other systems.
Why Study at Asian University Of Bangladesh (AUB)
Background
Asian University of Bangladesh (AUB) received formal approval of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 4th January 1996 as a teaching and degree-awarding university under the Private University Act, 1992. AUB is accredited by the University Grant Commission of Bangladesh and The Government of Bangladesh. AUB is also accredited overseas.
The efforts to establish this university date back to 1990 when the idea was first mooted out by a life-long educationist, the founder of AUB, Professor Dr. Abulhasan M. Sadeq, to import high quality education as widely as possible from an inter-disciplinary, integrated ethico-human approach reflecting our values, heritage and principles. Efforts continued for mobilizing a pool of academic resources from experienced and committed Bangladeshi academicians attached to overseas universities. The academic programs of AUB have been prepared by experts with co-operation from reputed overseas universities to meet international standards of education.
Philosophy And Mision
“Knowledge with action is the basis of human welfare, provided it upgrades human quantities and faculties as well as professional skills. Such knowledge is a right as well as an obligation of every human being, which should be provided by a system of universal education. Besides, a nation’s identity should be reflected in it’s education system. Based on this philosophy, AUB’s mission is to disseminate knowledge in an ethico-human approach reflecting identity of our nation with its heritage, values and principles.
Objectives
The specific objectives of AUB are as follows:
(a) To provide high quality education for human resource development so as to enable the students to compete in the modern world.
(b) To disseminate knowledge in an ethico-human approach integrating our national heritage, values and principles with a view to produce graduates who are professionally sound and morally upright.
(c) To make such education accessible to all groups of people in the country, including the general masses of the population, rural as well as urban, fresh students as well as working people.
(d) To provide a conductive academic atmosphere for intelligent development of the youth in an environment free from political and other disturbances.
(e) To contribute to moral uplift of the people and create a society of tolerance to co-exist in pease and harmony in a healthy atmosphere.
(f) To conduct and support research for development of knowledge and for socio-economic development of the country.
Overseas Linkages And Accreditation
AUB has established linkages with overseas universities for academic cooperation in education and research. Accordingly, AUB has signed many memoranda of understanding (MOU) with the following universities:
(a) University of West Florida, USA
(b) Ashland University, Ohio, USA
(c) University of Southern Queensland, Australia
(d) University of Jordan, Jordan
(e) International Islamic University, Malaysia
(f) University of Yarmouk, Jordan
(g) Tehran University, Iran
(h) University Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR), Malaysia
(i) MoU with IFDC and NYIT
Besides, co-operative arrangements with several other universities are in progress.
Under an agreement, AUB students may study 50% of the courses at AUB and the remaining 50% of the courses at Ashland University, USA, for a degree from Ashland University. Also, AUB students will be able to switch to the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), Australia, for a USQ degree with credit transfer at any point of their studies and also to UNITAR, Malaysia with similar facilities. Credit transfer facilities are available with a number of other universities as well.
AUB is accredited by, and is a full member of APICS, which is Switzerland-based body for accreditation of universities and international cooperation in education.
Furthermore, a number of scholars, academicians and educationists from home and overseas universities are associated with AUB in advisory and other cooperative capacities, who provide valuable input in its academic development and quality assurance.
